Phil Robertson Facts
He was a star quarterback at his alma mater Louisiana Tech University and played alongside the future Hall of Famer, Terry Bradshaw. Furthermore, he was approached to play for the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders) at the end of his junior year. However, he decided to quit football as it used to interfere with duck hunting season.
During his interview with GQ Magazine for their January 2014 issue, Robertson stated that homose*uality was sinful. Following his controversial statement, he was briefly suspended from Duck Dynasty but was reinstated 9 days later due to the overwhelming support from his audience.
Before starting his business, he worked as a teacher, commercial fisherman, and bar owner.
Robertson is pro-life and strongly opposes abortion, calling it a violation of the Declaration of Independence.
He wrote his memoir titled Happy, Happy, Happy with co-author Mark Schlabach and it was published in 2013.
During the 2015 CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), Robertson gave a highly incendiary speech in which he made several jarring statements, including alleging that STDs are the legacy of “Nazis, Communists, Beatniks, and Hippies”.
For the 2016 presidential election, he had initially endorsed the Texas senator Ted Cruz. However after he dropped out, he backed Donald Trump and became one of his most prominent MAGA supporters.
