Luna Blaise is a 15 year old actress and model, best known for her role as Nicole on ABC’s hit show Fresh Off The Boat. Whilst the show is currently on its third series, the starlet is ready to show another side to her many talents by branching out into music.

Today, Luna released her debut single ‘Over You’. The track, which was premiered by Just Jared Jr, exudes a maturity wise beyond her young years and deals with the feeling of never getting over your first love. The dreamy song will make you reminisce over your first love, and will also remain in your head for the rest of the day!

We recently had the opportunity to ask Luna some questions about ‘Over You’, inspiring others, her charity work and more. Check out our Q&A below!

Hi Luna, thank you for answering our questions today! First off, congrats on your debut single ‘Over You’. Can you tell us what inspired the track?

Thank you. Well basically I auditioned for High School Musical 4 and I had to sing in my audition. The feedback was really positive and so I decided to record a cover. When I went into the studio I ended up writing a song instead, that lead to me writing more songs. The process was really organic and was something that was super exciting and different for me.

Do you have a favourite lyric from the song?

Yes my favorite lyric from the song is “A little bit crazy”.

What can we expect from the music video?

Something visually different that really shows my true personality and essence of who I am.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My musical inspirations are The Beatles, John Mayer, Amy Winehouse and Halsey

Are you working towards an album?

I have written a bunch of songs but for right now I am focusing on the single but an EP could for sure be in the works.

We know you best for starring in ‘Fresh Off The Boat’, which is currently on its third season. What has been your favourite moment from filming so far?

My favorite moment so far was my very first day on set during Season 1. Nicole makes a grand entrance and from the moment you see her you realize she is a strong force.

As a young Latina, you’ve mentioned that your character Nicole is inspired by Jennifer Lopez. Do you hope to be an inspiration for fellow young Latinas who watch the show?

One of the best things about being on a show like “Fresh Off The Boat” is the incredible diversity from the cast and every department behind the scenes. I learned very early on that our show is really special in every way because of this. My hope is to inspire every person that watches and that chooses to be inspired by such a well written and super funny show.

You’re also a model and fashionista. Who would you name as your style icon?

I am fifteen and I am just starting to understand fashion and it is so exciting. If I had to choose a style icon, for me it would be Kendall Jenner I love her classic, chic and fun approach and Marilyn Monroe because she embraced her curves and basically looked great in everything she wore. I love everything about fashion.

You’ve also done a lot of charity work, supporting Breast Cancer organisations and Robert F. Kennedy’s Waterkeeper Alliance campaign. Why are these campaigns in particular so important to you?

My Aunt Lisa passed away from Breast Cancer two years ago. She was only 35 and it came fast and furious. She had every test you could imagine and in the end we know it was the environment that caused the cancer which basically means chemicals that are in foods, beauty products, household products and so many other things. Which is why I am so passionate about a clean environment especially clean water. We as a human race cannot survive without clean water. The more we treat the environment disrespectful the more the environment will continue to react. It makes me sad when I see litter in the streets and trash in the ocean.

What else does 2017 have in store for Luna Blaise?

I have a couple of independent movies that are expected to be released sometime this year. I am auditioning a lot and hoping to book another film. I hope to release more music and do some live performances. I love my life and I am so grateful to pursue the things I love to do. 2017 is gonna be busy and fun.
